Making the World a Better Place
Recycling
One way to help make the world a better place is by recycling. If you see the recycle symbol on an item you are about to throw in the trash, rinse it and recycle it instead! These items are made of materials that can be repurposed, such as plastic, glass, or paper. By recycling we can reduce the amount of waste we produce.
Composting
Another way to reduce the waste in landfills is to compost materials. Your compost can be used in your garden to greatly improve your plant's growth! Mix materials in a bin and add to soil in your garden. This reduces trash, as well as promotes growing your own food, which also leads to reduced waste. Here are some materials you can add to your compost bin:
| Food Scraps | Natural Materials | Paper |
|---|---|---|
| fruit peels/rinds | grass clippings | newspaper |
| coffee grounds | leaves | cardboard |
| rotten vegetables | dead plants | napkins |

Reusing
Using reusable items and reusing items you would normally waste is important for reducing waste. By reusing, we can produce less trash and prevent over-consumerism. Here are some ways you can reuse items:
- reusable water bottle
- thrift clothes and home items
- mend broken items instead of throwing away
